Terms of Service
Last updated: August 31, 2026
These terms cover your use of the Scout browser extension and this website. Using Scout means you accept them. Scout is operated by an independent developer, not a company.
What Scout does
Scout adds a review sidebar to GitHub pull request pages. It reads the diff of the pull request you are viewing and sends it to an AI provider to produce summaries, a review order, risk flags and answers to your questions. Scout is a reading aid. It does not approve, merge or block pull requests, and its output can be wrong.
Your API keys are yours
On the free and Pro plans you connect your own Anthropic or AWS Bedrock key. That key stays in your browser and is sent only to the provider you configured. You pay that provider directly for the tokens Scout consumes on your behalf, and their rate limits and pricing apply, not ours. Keep your key private; anyone with access to your browser profile can read it.
Accounts
A Scout account is created through GitHub sign-in and is only needed for a paid plan. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think it has been accessed by someone else, and we will disable it.
Plans and billing
The free plan stays free. Pro is billed monthly or annually through Stripe, in advance, and renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account and you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. New Pro subscriptions include a 14-day trial; cancel inside the trial and you are not charged. If you cancel after being charged, write to us within 14 days and we will refund that period in full.
Price changes
We may change the price of Pro. If your price goes up, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
Fair use
Do not resell Scout, present its output as a product of your own, or use it to review code you have no right to read. Do not attempt to bypass plan limits, break the service for other people, or automate it beyond ordinary interactive use. We may suspend an account that does any of these, and we will say why.
Availability
Scout depends on GitHub, on your AI provider and on this website. Any of them can be slow or unavailable, and we do not promise a level of uptime. We may change or retire features. If we retire a paid feature, we will refund the unused part of your subscription.
Limits of responsibility
Scout is provided as it is, with no warranty. It can misread a diff, miss a real bug, or flag something harmless. You remain responsible for the code you approve and ship. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is capped at what you paid us in the previous 12 months, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost data or consequential damage. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Substantive changes will be announced by email to account holders at least 30 days ahead, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use Scout after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine, and disputes go to the courts of Ukraine, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to your own local courts.
